Jewelry Store Press Release
-For Immediate Release- New York, NY (May 19, 2025)
The jewelry line, AXE THE OLIGARCHY conceived by Laurie Towers during this year’s Women’s March, has cast a special rainbow collection, AXE-CENT ON PRIDE, in honor of Pride Month. “The LGBTQ+ community has been viciously targeted, and we must make an impact in our response to the Washington right-wing boys’ club. The struggle takes on new ground when so many have far too much to lose”, Towers said. Axe the Oligarchy unites the images of historic weaponry in stainless and surgical steel to craft lasting pieces. And the AXE-CENT ON PRIDE Collection follows in the footsteps of the rest of the line, albeit striped with empowering spectrum colors. Several out-and-proud brand ambassadors have been wearing the new “Rainbow Circle”, “Spike”, “Dagger” and “Sword” as single-earrings or in sets of two, or as pendants with chains ranging from silver, antique bronze or onyx ball-chains, black or brown leather, classic snake chains, or rope and paperclip styles in silver or antique bronze. Custom designs are also available.
Most recently, renowned and radical clothing designer Adrian Alicea has been drawn into the Axe the Oligarchy camp, fitting his models with choice pieces of the jewelry line. Said Alicea, “Love your pieces, so fabulous. What a beautiful marriage! Look what we did together!”
For those seeking a somewhat softer revolution, the original line now includes medal-charm feminist quotes “She’s Like Whiskey in a Teacup”, “Well Behaved Women Rarely Make History” and the legendry women’s symbol of solidarity as necklaces or bracelets. Describing the wider Axe the Oligarchy line, Elisabeth Collazos, editor of LA’s Gemma fashion magazine added: “Cool, chic, and cutting-edge without the goth vibes!”
Working toward a certain “Herstory” and “Theirstory”, Towers, an activist for women’s rights and social justice, counts decades as an advisor and publicist for independent women in the arts and in business, as well as a mentor for at-risk girls. And in the current political climate, women, the LGBTQ+ community, people of color, workers, immigrants, and the Left need urgent fightback. Axe the Oligarchy jewelry blurs concepts of gender, age and style, uniting a populace in need of speaking truth to power. “Wear them when marching at the June parades for Pride and for justice every day”, “added Laurie Towers. “It’s due time we forge protest into life.”
